Saturday, March 3, is the last day to get your entries into the February challenges at H2H Challenges. Your entry needs to be linked up by 10:00 pm MST to be eligible for the prize and Top Ten. I missed the first challenge of the month, which was to make a card for a loved one. I am sneaking in my entry at the last minute, so that I will have an entry for every challenge for February. I went with the layered heart scheme. My hearts were cut with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. Not to frilly of a card, since it will be going to a man. I think he can only handle so much pink! The stitching was done by hand with help from the Close To My Heart ruler, which comes with stitching guides. All supplies by Close To My Heart, except where noted:

My card is based on the sketch this week at Mojo Monday. This month seems to be the month for me to try new things! Yet another first, a circle card. I see more of them in my future! Here is the original sketch-

It is round or square week. I decided to do something besides my usual rectangle or square cards and went with the circle. The circle card was a breeze to make with my Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. In fact all of the elements on this card were made with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. The scallop circle card base, circle layers, 3-D flowers, leaves, flourish and scallop border were all made with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge! All supplies by Close To My Heart:

H2H Photo Inspiration Challenge

It’s Monday! Time for another challenge at H2H Challenges! This week we are having a photo inspiration challenge. Check out the inspirational photo below. My inspiration was the big white flower hanging on the Desert Sand Walls. I added in a touch of Twilight Blue to accent my card. I love the striped curtains, so added a few stripes to my project as well. My 3-D flower as made with the help of the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. My flower is actually the layered star on page 23 of the booklet. All supplies by Close To My Heart.

Poppies

This card is based on a great sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches by Tui Nathan. I loved the sketch at first sight. The dilemma became what to stamp! I decided to step out of my comfort zone and take a run with my Copics. I won the poppy stamp from a challenge at Stampin Sisters in Christ. Sweet n Sassy Stamps sponsored the challenge. This is the first digital image I have “stamped” with. I am glad to report that my HP ink works well with the Copics. This is also my first image that has been completely colored with Copics. I spent my childhood coloring, but have yet to master coloring with Copics! I am sure there is room for vast improvement, but I have to start somewhere! Here is the original sketch-

Tie Dye Birthday Card

This card is based on the photo inspiration/color challenge at The Play Date Café. I took my inspiration from the colors and two of the photos shown. Here is the original inspiration photo-

I used the Color Ready Seam Binding Ribbon from Close To My Heart to bring all of the colors together.

The seam binding ribbon is my go to embellishment. This ribbon takes color so well. The ribbon here was sponged with color from my ink pads. You can also color with markers, reinkers, sprays etc. The vase and flowers were cut with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge.

Design Tip-The chipboard letters were white to start with. I colored them with the Copic Sketch and then added a Liquid Glass glaze. The banner was hand cut.

While the supply list seems a mile long, the paper was all from my scraps.

Design Tip- I inked the flower petal stamp, for my candle flame, in honey ink and then rolled the edges in the orange ink pad to mimic flames. I stamped the dot background on my cardstock strips to add texture.

The Paper Players DT Call

The Paper Players Challenge site is having a Design Team call. In order to apply for the DT team, I am submitting this post as my submission. You may have seen some of the projects before as they have been previously posted here. I will be back with a new project tomorrow!

While I have only been blogging for a few months, it has become my new passion. I have been paper crafting since 1995. I started out scrapbooking and then quickly moved into making handmade cards and other projects. With all of the supplies we collect, they can be put to various uses. I am an Independent Consultant for Close To My Heart. I do use a variety of products in my crafting though. I consider myself an equal opportunity crafter. I use the products that I love.

I originally started my blog to share my creations with others. I quickly learned of the “challenge” blogs. This has opened a whole new world to me. I have been inspired by so many crafters and have been welcomed into the community. Entering challenges has stepped up my crafting to the next level. I have found that being on a Design Team steps it up another level as well. I love the challenge of being on a Design Team and being inspired by all of the other submissions. I feel we can all learn from each other. I would love to be considered for The Paper Players Design Team.

Here are three of my favorite creations…since I actually started taking photos and posting them! I previously always made my creations and then promptly mailed them off to someone.

H2H 123 Challenge

It’s Monday-time for a new challenge at Heart 2 Heart Challenges! I am not a fan of Monday’s, but I love a new challenge! This week’s challenge is to create with 1 stamp, 2 pattern papers and 3 embellishments. Close To My Heart products are required to enter the challenge, but your card is not required to be 100% CTMH. The hardest part about this challenge was for me to decide which 2 papers and which 3 embellishments! Picking the stamp was the easy part. All supplies by Close To My Heart, except where noted:

Design Tip-The decorative shape and layer were cut with the Art Philosophy cartridge. The shape is found on page 55 of the booklet. I tweaked the shape in Design Studio. I am sure you could do the same with a Gypsy or in Cricut Craft Room. Here are the measurements-

All edges were sponged with Goldrush Ink. The seam binding ribbon was also sponged with Goldrush Ink. I colored the pearls with the Copic Marker to more closely match the Vanilla Cream cardstock.

Design Tip-The vast majority of this card was sponged with Cocoa Ink. The bottom panel of Cocoa Cardstock was embossed with a wood grain embossing folder. I then rubbed my ink pad over the top to add dimension. The oval and scalloped oval were cut with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. Page 52. I wanted a swirly design on the card, but did not have the right color. I colored my pearl bling with the Copic Sketch to get as close as possible to the right color!
